Gutter and drainage problems we see across Indianapolis

Indianapolis has every kind of house, from older homes with decades of repairs to newer builds with builder-grade gutters. The problems change from street to street, but the water usually ends up in the same place: against the foundation.

Old underground lines that stopped working

Many older homes have downspouts feeding into buried pipe that has cracked, filled with roots or collapsed. The downspout looks connected, but the water backs up and soaks the ground by the wall.

Gutters patched too many times

Sealant over sealant, a new section here, a bracket there. Eventually the gutter leaks at every joint and the fascia behind it goes soft.

Mature trees overhead

Established trees drop leaves, seeds and twigs most of the year. Gutters under them clog fast and spill over the front in every heavy rain.

Damp basements after a storm

Central Indiana’s clay soil drains slowly. Water dumped at the foundation sits there and finds its way into the basement.

The Celtic Way in Indianapolis: follow the water

Clearing one clog doesn’t fix much. We follow the water from the roof to where it ends up, then fix the part of the system that’s actually failing.

  1. Walk the whole house. We look at the roof edges, gutters, fascia, downspouts and where the ground stays wet.
  2. Test what’s underground. If downspouts disappear into the ground, we check whether that line still drains or just holds water.
  3. Fix the cause, once. That might be new seamless gutters, replaced fascia, a new drainline, or all three. We tell you which and why.
  4. Keep it working. Clean gutters and clear outlets, with a seasonal maintenance plan if the trees above you need it.

Old pipe is the hidden problem. On older Indianapolis homes, the gutter often gets blamed for water that’s really coming from a buried line that failed years ago. We check it before recommending anything, so you don’t pay for new gutters that feed into the same dead end.

Close to home. Our base is at 8059 Castleton Road, so the northeast side is our backyard, but we cover the whole city: north, south, east and west of downtown, inside and outside the loop. Quotes and on-site visits are free.

Indianapolis gutter and drainage questions

Which parts of Indianapolis do you cover?

All of it. We’re on the northeast side at Castleton Road, but we work across the city, inside and outside I-465. If you’re in Marion County, you’re in our area.

My downspouts go into the ground. Is that a problem?

Not if the line still drains. Many older lines are cracked, crushed or full of roots, and then they hold water right beside the foundation. We check where they go and whether water comes out the other end.

Can you fix an older house without replacing everything?

Often, yes. Sometimes a repair, a fascia board and a cleared outlet are all it needs. If the gutters are past saving, we’ll show you why before quoting replacement.

Do you charge to come out and look?

No. Quotes and on-site visits are free, and the quote is in writing so you can see exactly what’s included.
